Almada

Almada came from the Arabic word “al-Ma’dan” and mean mine. During the Arab occupation of the Iberian Peninsula, there was a fortress to guard and defend the entrance of enemies hrough Rio Tejo (Tagus River) and having grown up as agriculture and fishing area.

Almada has always been a meeting between the Atlantic Ocean and river, a place of passage of various peoples for thousands of years calls today to meet with the Tagus River and the beautiful beaches bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.

Q uick access to Lisbon by ship, train or car through the 25th April Bridge was opened in August 1966 and is a masterpiece of architecture.

Water Sports : Kitesurf , Bodysurf , Surf , swimming , Beach volley and even Soccer on the beach.

Convent: The Capuchos Convent is a magnificent and romantic spot, located in Costa da Caparica, gives you a privileged view over the  Sintra Hills, Lisbon, Cascais Bay,among other places from Setubal region.

Sanctuary : The Sanctuary Christ the King opened in 1959, has built at 113 metres above water line and has a unique and stunning view over Lisbon, Cascais, Almada and the entire region of Setubal .
