Wine Vintages Festival in Palmela

On the 1-7 September it will take place on the Palmela Castle the Festival “Wine Vintages” in its 48th edition.

It is one of the premier events in Setubal that celebrates the region having the most well-known and reputable wines of the country. It has become hugely popular and a regular sell out attracting ten thousand people, many of whom return year after year. It is an opportunity for you to taste and buy the region’s best wines as well as interacting with many local wine experts.

The event will have a consumer choice competition for “Best Red Wine” and “Best White Wine” of the region, as well as the “Baco Time” with many promotions taking place daily between 7 and 8pm.

Besides wine tasting, this event has many other fun activities that simbolizes the traditions of the region of Setubal and the country. An ecletic mix of music events on different stages is taking place throughout these 7 days,where the best traditional folk artists from Portugal rub shoulders with more contemporary acts, including  world, jazz, folk music and the traditional Portuguese “Fado”. Several sporting events will take place like cycling, basketball, rally paper and a chess competition. The Festival also include street theatre and a street running of the bulls* (in Portuguese “largada”).

You’ll also have the chance to taste many gourmet delicacies of the region like the famous Azeitao cheese and many sweet delicacies.
